An Inside Look at Corry Lee Matthews
Recently I was described as someone who “perseveres, adapts and moves forward” and I would say that is pretty much a great way to sum up my life. At the early age of 7, I learned of the heart ache that comes from losing a parent… my father, an Air Force pilot was killed during routine training flights. I have a crooked sternum and rib cage due to a football accident as a child. I have had “seven”; yes I said seven varicose veins stripped from my left leg at the age of 16. And like many girls in high school and college I battled with eating disorders that have continued well into my adult life. Luckily for me all of this equates to turning obstacles into triumphs. My personal motto: “IN DREAMS AND IN LOVE, there are no impossibilities”.
| I have always loved learning and teaching. In school I always excelled in Math and Science. For my bachelors degree I majored in Kinesiology --- I fell in love with the mystery of the body. During my four years at the University of Colorado I began teaching group exercise classes. My favorite class to teach--- the ROTC “Military” boys. It was during my junior year that I met my husband, who graduated a year before me as a United States Marine Corps Officer. Two short months after my graduation we moved to Okinawa Japan for three years. |
